It is well acknowledged that community plays a central role in cognitive development. Learning is greatly enhanced by being part of a group that can provide guidance and model effective study skills and habits. The annual Getting of Wisdom Panel harnesses this by providing an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of one cohort while building a strong foundation for the next group of HSC students.
At the 2024 Getting of Wisdom Panel HSC High Achievers from the Class of 2023 shared their reflections and advice with current Year 12 students. The Q&A format, facilitated by Ms Corinna Bailey, Dean of Learning Science and Innovation, was a valuable opportunity for students to benefit from the experience of the Class of 2023 and covered topics including study tips, how to manage worries and workload, creating structures to mitigate procrastination, the difference between motivation and discipline, and the value of doing past papers. Jasmine Patanjali, 2023 College Dux, inspired the Class of 2024 saying, ‘education is a collective effort so find balance, use your support systems and don’t shy away from driving towards your own personal excellence.’
The College is proud to recognise the 2023 HSC High Achievers for their dedication to their studies, and the accomplishments achieved as a result of this dedication. It is a privilege to watch students grow during their time at the College, and it is a great delight to see the confident, eloquent and poised young women they have become. College Principal Mr Hanratty spoke for all staff and students when he said, ‘we are proud of the you as learners, as Bennies girls, and as graduates.’
